Information Management for a Furniture Manufacturer

A furniture manufacturer required an information management, collaboration and project management system for its drafting division.

An essential part of the project was to analyse the customer’s business requirements, then build data structures across multiple SharePoint sites and allocate relevant permissions to Active Directory users and groups. The implementation also included many customisations to the SharePoint lists and document libraries, as well as deployment of MS Project Server 2010 on top of the on-premises SharePoint 2010 portal and its integration with a third-party requirements management software (OnTime).

The final solution enabled the customer employees and external users to accumulate, categorise, manage and distribute documents and information about their clients, suppliers, resources, schedules, projects and procedures.

Back-office for a Mining Equipment Supplier

A crushing and screening equipment supplier needed a system to manage information about their customers, suppliers, products, and projects. Given the amount of data, their existing folder-based approach didn’t work and things were out of control.

A solution was implemented and hosted on a cloud server as a SharePoint 2010 site collection. Data structures and taxonomies were created to enable management of the information and its meta-attributes. Version control, search indexing, and backup routines were configured to make sure the information is always available and up-to-date. A custom web-part was created to implement calculations and generate documents required for the quoting process.

All existing documents and information have been migrated to the new system, ensuring that all staff members have one point of access to the relevant information and files.
